Like many small businesses, 2020 was a challenging year for Origin Snow. The pandemic has impacted our materials supply chain as well as general interest from families looking to purchase equipment for activities that they weren't sure they'd be able to participate in.
If you're here looking to purchase snowboards, you're no doubt aware that we currently have nothing in our inventory, and we're not currently manufacturing snowboards.
We typically focus on manufacturing during the spring and summer months, and we're hoping that we start seeing enough interest that we can start building again in May 2021.
We're down, but we are not out. If you are looking for a snowboard for your son or daughter, whether it be one of our standard designs or something more custom, please let us know by filling out the contact form below. We'd love to hear from you!
We are Origin Snow based out of Littleton, CO. We’ve been designing and hand-building small-batch and custom snowboards exclusively for kids since 2010.
Our goal is to become the #1 independent manufacturer of snowboards for kids.

My name is Matt Rinehart. I am the founder, owner, and sole operator of Origin Snow. I am a husband and father of two boys. I have been snowboarding since 1992.
I came up with the concept for Origin while sitting in traffic driving home from snowboarding with my oldest son, Koen, in February of 2009. He was six years old at the time, so naturally he was passed out in the back seat while I cursed the traffic under my breath. As we sat on I-70, I began contemplating how I could improve his riding experience. The boards we’d been renting for him were beat up, of seemingly second-rate technology and construction, and usually the wrong size.
I decided to reach out to some of the contacts I had made in my first snowboard brand endeavor from the late 90s, Source Snowboards. None of them were making kid boards, and more importantly they weren’t interested in it. The cost of entry into the market paired with the small demographic made it a less than appealing effort for many of the established brands.
At this point, I made the decision to do it myself. By early 2010, we had our first prototype 85cm and 105cm decks. Seven-year-old Koen became our beta tester on the slopes of Breckenridge, Keystone, Loveland, Copper Mountain, and Arapahoe Basin. His younger brother Kaias would pick up testing the smaller sizes later that season.
With the help of my family, our friends friends, and a handful of talented young riders (and their families), we’re moving towards our goal of becoming the #1 independent manufacturer of snowboards for kids, one board at a time.
At Origin, there is no board of directors. There are no investors. No silent partners calling the shots from behind the scenes. We do what’s important for us without worrying about someone else’s bottom line. Everything we do is backed by the money in our pockets. Most importantly, we do this because we love it.
We hope you’ll find value in what we’re doing and support us in creating our dream.
